Replica Watches

A replica watch is basically any watch that is not manufactured by the brand's genuine copyright holder. Replica watches, or counterfeit watches, are made with the intention of deceiving people into making them believe they are "real", or genuine. Some of these replicas display the same logo as the genuine watch produced by the copyright holder, so as to make it seem as though they are truly genuine. They still function well as watches, even though some of them may not include all the functions that the genuine watches include, such as the sub dials. There are also homage watches, which are watches that do not display the logos or markings of the genuine watch, but appear very similar to it in its appearance. These homage watches are marked with a different brand name, but look very similar to the watches in which they replicate. There are also "frankenwatches" and "project watches", which assemble watches by deriving separate replacement parts and putting them together. Replica watches are generally created in Asia or Europe, such as in Taiwan or China. Some watches may appear to be so similar to the genuine watch produced and manufactured by the copyright holder, that the only way one can truly know if it is genuine is to send it to the manufacturer so that they can evaluate it. Most replica watches tend to look "fake", and some of its materials appear to be made out of either cheap material or are dysfunctional to some degree. For example, a watch with an uneven screw or a pot metal case would most likely indicate that it is not the genuine watch, for most of these genuine watches are thousand dollar watches, so they are most certainly not made out of cheap materials. Other factors that may indicate replication are the cases, the crowns, and the bands. For example, most genuine watches have a see-through case back which allows one to see the movement of the clock, but counterfeit or replica watches, display no movement, or very little if at all. Another indicator that might imply a replica would be if the crown is engraved with laser etching rather than real engraving. Also, some genuine watches are embedded with precious or semi-precious stones. While these stones sparkle, the replicas can be detected as fake, for they usually utilize glass or crystal stones, which are dull in appearance.
