Chopard Watches

In 1860, Louis-Ulysse Chopard began what would later become a successful watchmaking company. The earliest Chopard watch that we have records of is a thick and heavy watch, with Roman figures on the dial. It had a silver regulator disk, a filigree bridge, and two blued steel screws which were connected to the bridge. On the enameled dial lays the signature “Chopard ê Sonvilier”. It is believed that most of the early Chopard watches were similar to this one. In 1963, the grandson of Chopard, Paul André was reaching the end of his life, and had to deal with the difficult task of deciding what to do with the family business. His sons did not wish to continue it, and he had to figure out whether to close it down, sell it, or continue on. Fortunately enough, the business came into the hands of the Karl Scheufele family, who would continue managing the business firmly, as Chopard had hoped. Even until today, Chopard continues to be run properly under the hands of the Scheufele family, and co-president Karl-Friedrich Scheufele. Among the Chopard collection are the Les Classiques, Haute Horlogerie, Happy Spirit, Happy Diamonds, Happy Sport, Mille Miglia, L.U.C., Ice Cube, La Strada, Elton John, Prince Charles, and José Carreras. The L.U.C. collection alone, has many different models, including the 1860, Pro One, Tonneau, Sport, 4 Tourbillon, 4 Régulateur, Specials, GMT, Quattro, and the Twin. As of today, Chopard has branches worldwide, in countries such as Austria, France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, China, Great Britain, the United States, the Carribean and Latin America, and even in Hong Kong and Singapore.
